Cathedral of Notre-Dame, Paris & Sainte-Chapelle
We have worked with Notre-Dame Cathedral for some years now to reproduce some of their wonderful stained glass as gifts for their shop. For us, this is one of the most beautiful, and special, cathedrals we have been to. Not only does it have remarkable stained glass windows, but the atmosphere, even crowded with tourists, is unique, and even better when there is music and singing.

We were also asked to reproduce some of the fantastic stained glass in La Sainte-Chapelle as gifts for their shop. Wonderful, very ancient glass. This chapel, tucked away on the same island as Notre Dame de Paris, is like a jewelled casket. The stained glass windows of Sainte-Chapelle surround the whole building so the overall effect is extraordinary. Visit if you possibly can!

Notre Dame Cathedral - North Rose Window The stunning North Rose Window of Notre Dame Catheral in Paris. It is the favourite subject for photography by the visitors to Notre Dame Cathedral because the colours are so beautiful. Notre Dame Cathedral was built by King Louis lX (Saint Louis) around 1364. The Treasury of Notre Dame Cathedral now contains the Holy Crown of Thorns relic of Jesus' crucifixion, formerly in the holy Sainte Chapelle nearby. Quiet background singing makes Notre Dame Cathedral one of the most moving of all cathedrals to visit. Notre Dame Cathedral - Madonna from the West Rose Window This representation of Our Lady and Jesus is very ancient indeed and lies at the very heart of the wonderful West Rose Window. This particular image of Mary and Jesus is the iconic image of Notre Dame Cathedral. Jesus looks a little strange to modern eyes, but often in medieval art he was represented as a small version of an adult rather than as a baby, presumably to show that he exhibited maturity and experience even as an infant. She stands on the crescent moon surrounded by deep blue sky studded with gold fleurs de lys instead of stars. Notre Dame Cathedral - St. Louis on horseback Not the usual representation of St. Louis, but he is to be found in the stained glass of the apse in the cathedral. St. Louis was instrumental in the building of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. The original stained glass window is very splendid, and St. Louis is shown bearing his symbol of the Fleur de Lys flower, tokening his love and adherence to Mary mother of Jesus, symbolising her purity - and at the same time the holy Trinity, by the three petals of the flower.
